]]> Wednesday at the Word is one of the programs we offer at Church of the Word in Gainesville. It is a mid week program with something for everyone in the family. It has four essential elements.

A simple but home cooked meal offered from 6:00pm until 6:45pm. The cost is only $1 per person but you must sign up ahead of time. You can do this by calling the office at 703-754-9673 or e-mail Pastor Robin

Three programs run from 6:45 – 8:15pm

  1. AWANA for children age 4 to 12
  2. Youth group for teenagers
  3. Adult Forum for all adults

If you cant make the meal at 6pm do please come along to one of the other events, no need to register ahead of time for those.

Our Fall season begins on Wednesday September 15th and our Adult Forum will be a presentation on the Jewish Festival of Yom Kippur

Atonement in Bible Times and in the Synagogue Today:  What Happened? — a detailed look at the holiday of Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) and the differences in ancient and modern practices.  Concludes with a moving contrast of the lives of two Jewish contemporaries–Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai and the Apostle Paul–who helped shape Judaism and Christianity respectively.  A message of true hope!

Later in September we shall be reading and discussing ‘The Gospel for real life’ By Jerry Bridges. Copies will be made available at the Church though you can find them in most good bookstores.
